Wapato Spends Thousands For Unfinished Soccer Fields

Wapato spent thousands of your taxpayer's dollars to clear land for soccer fields, but the money has run out. The fields were overgrown until the city paid a contractor to clean them up. Now they say, there just isn't enough money to finish the project.

Gary Potter with the Department of Public Works says the reason more hasn't been done is simple," No money in the town to be able to accomplish doing the develop of the soccer fields. It takes irrigation water and maintenance."

The city received a 25-thousand dollar donation from a housing project across the street.They hope to use some of that money to finish the fields.
