Toppenish -- A July 4th tradition is brought back to life. Financial problems from a lawsuit shut down the Toppenish rodeo but now it's back!

We checked it out and found some empty stands earlier in the day but plenty of people practicing and prepping the arena. The big event got started Saturday night. The rodeo is being put on by an outside promoter and is a smaller version of the original and while it's a start the city knows it's not a permanent solution.

"Realizing that we can't go without it the longer we do think the chances of it not coming back are higher and higher," says Loren Belton, Toppenish Mayor.

This is video of the original Toppenish rodeo and pow wow from a few years ago. Belton says they want to have the original back next year
But if that isn't possible, they will try to get other events to at least make some money off the fairgrounds.
