Yakima -- They can't do it without you. Police say this recent streak of shootings won't stop without your help.

Yakima's had three shootings in two weeks. Officers are putting extra patrols on the North side. But they also want you to call them if you hear or see something suspicious.

They're also trying to organize block watches in the areas where there has been gunfire. The chief says it doesn't matter if it's just a few people who get involved, block watches do work. "I don't care if it's five people or if it's six people, you need to have a number of people willing to band together to take care of their neighborhood and help us," says Chief Sam Granato, Yakima Police Department.

Chief Granato says solving Yakima's gang problem is going to be a marathon project.
