Wapato Fire
By Stacy Lilienthal
Two people barely escaped a fire in Wapato Tuesday morning.
You could see the black smoke from miles around. Fire fighters say the old trailer on Egan Street was full of a lot of old plastics and glues. The home was destroyed. Two people were sleeping when they had to wake up and run for their lives. Fire District 5 Captain J.J. Ihnen recalls the event, "No one was injured. They were able to bust a window out and climb out and get out before it completely went up." The fire department actually had to put the grass out before tackling the trailer because they could see that structure was already lost. Candles or cigarettes may be to blame. |
