Large Brush Fire on Lookout Point
By Stacy Lilienthal
Fireworks caused a nearly 150 acre fire in Selah Wednesday night.
Selah fire chief Jerry Davis tells us the 100 to 150 acre brush fire was caused by two kids under the age of 13 shooting off old fireworks from a paved culvert. The dry grass and high wind spread the fire quickly, and Davis says they called more fire stations out to this fire than they have in many years. He says fireworks are illegal to have or use in many Yakima County areas, including Selah. Chief Davis urges you to bring any old fireworks into your local fire department for proper disposal. |
