PROSSER -
Monday's Benton County Commission meeting became heated when about half a dozen people pressed commissioners for answers. At issue was whether to abandon a drainage district outside of Benton City.

The ditch was put in place for flood waters to drain into, but folks at the meeting say the canals are cluttered and don't work. They would like to see it filled in so they can access land they own.

Commissioners voted the district be deemed inactive. The next step is to hold public hearings and consider dissolving the district.
