Yakima -- A full city council means we're getting closer to a decision on a controversial vote that could get paramedics new gear at the Yakima Fire Department.

It's been a hot topic because many call this a creative way to make the change that the EMS levy failed to do with voters.

Yakima city council was expected to make a vote on the program last night but pushed it back until they had appointed a new member and had time to discuss it.
Action News asks,"Are you worried about the vote?"
"I'm very encouraged that they tabled the city council tabled it and that will allow all seven members including our newest member to weigh on this important issue. We'll wait and see how it comes, I know I'm not alone in anticipating we'll finally get some direction from the city council," says Chief Charlie Hines,Yakima Fire Department.

Chief Hines tells us he's been working on the paramedic program since February. He says he'll be at the city council meetings until a decision is made.
