Yakima County Included in a Funding Bill

YAKIMA COUNTY-- Senator Patty Murray included Yakima County in a bill Monday. The bill includes $950,000 for Yakima's YWCA Domestic Violence Center. The funds will go toward building 16 apartments for battered women and their children. The center's Director of Development, Donna Hatten, told Action News, "It's a boom to Yakima! Low income housing units that weren't there before, and this population domestic violence survivors are homeless because of domestic violence, so this is wonderful."

Funds for other projects in Yakima County would include -- The Charities Hispanic Homeownership Public Education Campaign and improving traffic flow on Valley Mall Boulevard.
