Avalanche Survivor
By Melissa WagnerA local man and his friends sprang into action when one man got buried in a Yellowstone avalanche. Lanny Gill was on the trip and says, " Once we got in the avalanche we realized we didn't know, we weren't quite prepared for it." Rick Arnold was also there, "It wasn't anything we did that saved Gene. It wasn't the beacons or the probes or anything, it was by God's grace the tree stopped him." The avalanche started at the top of a mountain in West Yellowstone. Lanny Gill says he and a few others made it to the bottom in time, but Gene Knoble didn't. This picture shows where he ended up. The friends tell gene managed to get his hand out in the open, and that's how they finally spotted him. He's got some broken ribs and is still on oxygen, but should be okay. The group also credits the rescue team for helping them get off the mountain alive. |
