Gas Prices Up Slightly
By Molly Kelleher
BENTON COUNTY - Here we go again. Gas prices are inching up again.
Gas went up three cents up in one day. According to AAA, Washington state average wen up from $1.86 to $1.89 for a gallon of unleaded in just 24 hours. So we wanted to know, what gives, why up and why now? Crude oil is living up to it's name. The cruel fact is that crude is up according to AAA, eight dollars in one week. And then there's that trouble in the Middle East. AAA spokesperson tells Action News the rise in gas prices is because of the conflict in the Gaza Strip "I totally think it's an excuse a lot of fear factor when they can get it up they can." "They try to make a crisis out of everything so they say something and all the prices go up." But don't loose your cool just yet here's some good news, AAA reps also told Action News , they don't think this is the beginning of a steep climb. Just consider where we were this time last year, prices in Washington averaged $3.20 for a gallon of unleaded. Even still, people we talked to are nervous we might go back to that. "I just started driving to school so to see them go up is kind of scary." "Absolutely I'm worried because the price of groceries directly related to the price of fuel. Everything is related to fuel prices." So what do you think? We want to hear from you. Click on comments on our website and tell us if you buy the reason for a increase in prices. |
