Suspect in Court for Car Crash Death
By Audrey Asistio
YAKIMA -- A mother of four was killed in a wreck near Toppenish on Thanksgiving day. Three of her kids are still in a Seattle hospital.
Police believe Kelly York is the one to blame for the fatal crash. They say he ran a stop sign and slammed into the family's car. York claims he wasn't the one behind the wheel. By the time police got to the scene at Branch and Wierman Roads, both York and a woman he was with had run away. The Wapato man was found and arrested yesterday. The children who were in the van are still in critical condition. Now their aunt, Mary Rodriguez has set up a fund to help pay for their medical care. Rodriguez tells Action News, “They are originally from Arizona, they were here for their grandmother's funeral. So they have nothing here. Any amount, anything would be appreciated.” You can make a donation that will go towards the children's care at any Bank of America under the name "Mary Rodriguez." |
