Black Friday Mall Traffic Under Control
By Rudabeh Shahbazi
KENNEWICK-- Police have been keeping a close eye on traffic near local malls. Even with the Black Friday masses, they say the biggest shopping weekend of the year was relatively uneventful.
Police say there weren't any major traffic problems around the Columbia Center Mall Friday, but there were seven fender-benders. Two people were hurt as a result. There was also one hit-and-run in the mall parking lot. Wait times were longer at traffic lights, and several turn lanes on Columbia Center Drive were coned off. "It wasn't busy, but it's not out of the ordinary to have seven accidents in a weekend," said Kennewick Police Officer Stan Howard. Police say the new round-about on Gage Blvd. and Columbia Center Parkway kept traffic flowing. |
