14th District Campaign Getting Testy
By Audrey Asistio
YAKIMA -- For most of the race, candidates for the 14th Legislative District Representative position have kept things friendly. But days before the election, things are getting a little testy. The Washington State Democratic party gave more than $100,000 to Vickie Ybarra's campaign, paying for the mailers you've been receiving. One mailer shows Norm Johnson's stance on health care and he says those mailers aren't stating the facts.
Norm Johnson tells Action News, "This is Seattle attempting to purchase a seat, you know. And I would hope that Vickie would disapprove this type of campaign." Vickie Ybarra answers, "I said from the very beginning, I would run a serious campaign. It's been professional. It's been well run and that's how I do things." Vickie Ybarra says the facts on the mailers are all true, claiming Johnson stated his beliefs on those issues before. |
