Jobs & Campers In Demand
By Sade Malloy
Yakima -- Their mothership is in Canada but the new Adventurer RV company is building their campers in Yakima and despite our slow economy business is booming.
Times might be tough for RV companies in the U.S. but over at the Adventurer production line, a Canadian company, there's plenty of work to be done. Jeff Gaskell, Adventurer Operations Mgr. says, "We'll be manufacturing between one-and-a-half and two a day through the next three to four months." Business is picking up for Adventurer they're grabbing more of the market with the demise of four RV companies including Chinook and Western RV. Sade Malloy, Action News says, "You'll have your jobs for a while Mario Mendoza, Production Supervisor says, "Exactly you hear bad things about the RV industry but these guys it's going good so far." Sade Malloy, Action News says, "There are 24 people working the line like the gentleman behind me and all but about eight are from Western RV." And they're not done hiring, they're looking for about 10 more people by November, specifically people like Hector a former Western RV employee. Hector Martinez, applying for job says, "I think it's a good opportunity for people to come out and try because it's almost the same grounds as Western RV." But they're not taking everyone from the Western RV pool they're going after workers with years of experience. Mario Mendoza, Production Supervisor says, "Some of the key people we knew could help us out as far as the training and learning the new product we brought these people in with us to help us out." And with six to eight walk-ins a day and 70 applications from worksource their jobs much like their campers are in demand. |
