Toppenish Church Crimes On The Rise

TOPPENISH--
"The word is getting out to individuals and their friends and associates that a lot of churches are deemed easy targets," says one local detective.

Cops have seen seven burglaries in five different churches--since January!
And get this -- NO burglaries on record last year.
Calvary Baptist Church has been broken into three times now.
The crooks broke in through an office window this time.
They took office equipment, sound equipment, and a bunch of donated items meant for troops overseas.

"I could not believe that people would, first of all, break into a church, but secondly, that they would steal items intended for soldiers who are putting their lives on the line everyday to protect people that are willing to do this," says Linda Troy.

Linda says the church is looking into a security system, but it's hard for a small congregation to afford.
Cops arrested two juveniles so far for the baptist church crimes.
