YAKIMA -- Congressman Doc Hastings was in town today, to meet with Yakima School District officials about the rising cost of fuel.

Hastings says, a big part of the solution is to drill our own oil here in the U.S.

"We have the technology to do it in an environmentally safe way and for those who say it'll destroy the environment, it doesn't hold up under scrutiny," Hastings said.

School reps say they almost doubled their budget to gas up buses for the coming school year. To help offset costs, buses will run on consolidated routes this fall.
