Firefighters Stay Busy Over Hot Weekend
By Rudabeh Shahbazi
TRI-CITIES-- Fires broke out around the Tri-Cities over the weekend, keeping firefighters busy, and with triple-digit temperatures, there is a red flag warning in effect from Sunday to Tuesday.
The warning is because of the heat, combined with the chance of lightning and thunder storms. Fireworks vendors were also allowed to start selling fireworks this weekend. "Fireworks are always a problem every year," said Richland Fire Battalion Chief Curtis Walsh. "We do have fireworks-related fires on a regular basis from the time they go on sale until they stop selling them." There is already a fireworks stand up in Richland. West Richland and Benton City also sell fireworks, but Kennewick and Pasco don't allow them. |
