It didn't take long to find the backup from those accidents.
DOT forced traffic off I-90 as far back as Ellensburg!
We're told snow in late March is not a big surprise, but the sudden way it came down was.
Action News saw the effects of the storm near Cle Elum, where one crash led to another, and another...

Just days after Easter, a storm that looked more like Christmas weather hit Snoqualmie pass.
Heavy snow and icy roads caused a bunch of accidents.

Speeding cars and trucks near Ellensburg had to slam to a sudden stop on I-90.
Crews shut down the pass and forced both lanes of traffic into Ellensburg.

"It just sucks coz i want to get home and it might be a while," traveler Eric Stroubel tells us.

Strouble was waiting there for his Greyhound bus to Ohio...

"They just said it'll be here when it's here," he says.

But Ellensburg locals say they've dealt with this before.

"I've seen it snow here like May 1, but not like this..."

The DOT says black ice caused a major accident near Cle Elum involving several vehicles and a semi that slipped right off the road...
DOT says it was a domino effect--four other semis slammed into one another trying to stop.
It sent us these photos taken right after the crash happened.
Amazingly, no one was seriously injured in any of the storm's accidents.

The deadline to remove studded tires from your car is still Monday the 31st.
DOT will decide Thursday if that deadline should be extended.
