YAKIMA -- Here are some of the Halloween events going on this weekend in the Yakima Valley:

Harvest Costume Party: Saturday, October 29th, 12:00 pm, Naches Library. All ages are invited to make crafts and enjoy refreshments. Wear a costume if you like.

Bats, Cats and Chocolate Rats: Saturday, October 29th, 2:00 pm, Wapato Library. Help us have some "horrifying" Halloween fun!

Spider-Fest: Monday, October 31st, 11am, Moxee Library. Preschool story, game and spider craft.

Yakima Haunt Night: Friday, October 28th, 5-8pm, Yakima Public Works. Be afraid, be very afraid as we venture out in looks for a good scare! We will visit the haunted houses set up in town. First, we'll enjoy some pizza at Public Works, and then we'll head out for a good scare! Space is limited, so register early! Yakima Valley Rail and Steam Museum Association presents the Haunted Depot Train: Friday, October 28th, 7-11pm, Saturday, October 29th, 7-11pm, Sunday, October 30th, 7-10pm and Monday, October 31st, 7-10pm, Northern Pacific Railway Museum, 10 Asotin Ave., Toppenish. Thompson's Farm Pumpkin Patch: Saturday, October 29th and Sunday, October 30th, 10am-4pm, 9535 Old Naches Hwy. Pumpkin patch, pumpkin cannon, hayrides, farm animals, u-pick and u-select apples, cornstalks, squash and gourds. For info, call 509-949-3450 or

Halloween Trolley: Saturday, October 29th, 11am-3pm, S. 3rd Ave. and Pine St., Yakima. Ride the Halloween trolley with spooky characters and get a pumpkin to take home (for the first 100 kids), thanks to Wray's Food and Drug. Half-hour trolley rides down Pine Street will be offered through out the day. Lite refreshments will be served. This is a family-oriented event suitable for young children. Purchase tickets on the day of the event at the gray, concrete Powerhouse building at Yakima Valley Trolleys. $4 adults, $3 kids 12 and under. For information,

Festival of Fun at Barrett Orchards: Saturday, October 29th, 10am-5pm and Sunday, October 30th, 11am-4pm, Washington Fruit Place. 7th Annual Dia de los Muertos Altar Exhibition: Saturday, October 29th, Sunday, October 30th, Monday, October 31st and Tuesday, November 1st, 12-6pm, 317 E. Yakima Ave. (former Yakima Mall). The Yakima-Morelia Sister City Association will host its 7th annual Dia de los Muertos Community Altar Exhibit in downtown Yakima featuring approximately 30 community created altars. Admission is free. The altars are created by local businesses, individuals, organizations, and schools.

HalloWine: Saturday, October 29th, 10am-5pm, some open until 6pm, Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail. Trick or Treat for wine! Artist-carved pumpkins, harvest soups, chocolate, costumed staff, and new wine releases. Staff at participating wineries along the trail will be in costume and visitors dressed in costumes may get discounts at some wineries. No charge, complimentary to the public.

Downtown Guided Walking Ghost Tours: Saturday, October 29th, 7-8pm, 25 N. Front St., Yakima. The P.A.S.T. is Present Paranormal Investigation Team, will be resuming their Dowtown Yakima Guided Walking Ghost Tours. The tours start at 7pm and last approximately one hour. Please dress for the weather and wear comfy walking shoes. The tours are free, but donations are greatly appreciated. If you are interested in taking this tour, meet in the parking lot of the Carousel Restaurant in the Historic District. For information, call 945-9830.

Trunk or Treat, Sunnyside: Sunday, October 30th, 5-7 pm, Sunnyside Law and Justice Center. Trunk or Treat is a safe trick-or-treating event. Families are encouraged to park on Homer St. and walk into the Sunnyside Law and Justice Center parking lot to trunk or treat with a number of local businesses, community groups, and families.

Free Trunk-or-Treat in Union Gap. Monday, Oct. 31st , 5-7pm at Sun Valley Church on 2004 E Mead Ave.

Valley Mall Trick-or-Treating: Monday, October 31st, starting at 5pm, Valley Mall. Children can go from store to store trick or treating in a fun and safe atmosphere. New this year, children 0-13 are invited to enter into the first ever Valley Mall Costume Contest. 1st prize is a $100 Valley Mall Gift Card, 2nd place is a $50 gift card and 3rd place is a $25 card.

Kid's Carnival: Monday, October 31st, 6-9pm, Stone Church, 3303 Englewood, Yakima. Candy, games, bounce houses, laser tag and more. Costumes welcome but no scary costumes, please. Free Scary Face Pancakes: Friday, October 28th, 7am-10pm, IHOP Restaurants. “Design your own” Scary Face Pancakes will be given out free to kids 12 and under on Friday only.

Skateland Fun Center of Union Gap/Yakima Costume Party & Contest: Saturday Oct. 29th, 1:30-4:30 pm and 7-11pm, 2506 South Old Town Rd., Union Gap. Costume party/contest with prizes, spooky brew, black out skate and mummy wrap contest. $6.50 for the afternoon session, $7:50 for the evening one.

Halloween Safe House: Monday, Oct. 31st at Orchard Park Retirement Community, 620 N 34th Ave. Free indoor trick-or-treating.
