SELAH -- KIMA has learned Selah city council's push to get more people to use the curbside recycling program is working.

If you live in Selah, you're already paying for recycling through your garbage service. The program has been around for a while, but few were taking advantage.

Now, 40% of homes are signed up.

"We go through lots of cardboard, because we shop at Costco," says Lesley Stutheit. "We've got lots of plastics, and it's just so much easier to put them in the recycle bin because it takes up so much less room. Plus, it's good for the environment."

If you aren't signed up for curbside recycling, all you have to do is call the city and request a blue-lid bin. It will be delivered to you for free.
