Yakima loses business icon & philanthropist
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A giant in Yakima's business community is gone.

Joanne Almon died early Tuesday morning. She founded Almon Realty in 1984 and ran the real estate company until 2007.

Almon was a committed philanthropist. Her friends say she was one of the founders of Pacific Northwest University, a strong supporter of the Capitol Theatre and Children's Village to name just a few of the causes she was passionate about.

Joanne Almon was 68 years old.
