Yakima could ask organizations to pay for own parade costs
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima might make organizations pay for their own parades in the city. Right now, Yakima pays 100 percent of the costs.

Charities and organizations would have to pick up some of the cost for Yakima Police escorts and other services.

Private organizations would cover 100 percent of parade costs. Co-sponsored events would see the city pick up half of it. Yakima would pay for its own parades like this weekend's Cinco De Mayo Parade.

If passed by council, it would affect parades happening this Fall.
