Yakima budget proposal calls for no new taxes
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima City Council members got their first look at the budget proposed for next year.

No new taxes are planned. City Manager Tony O'Rourke projects almost $62 million in revenues and expenses while maintaining almost $10 million in reserves.

It calls for spending $1.4 million more than this year. A big part of that comes from the requirement to hire more lawyers to ease the caseload on public defenders. That amounts to an increase of $700,000.
