Yakima County finds new home for controversial shooting range

YAKIMA COUNTY -- Yakima County came to an agreement Tuesday on where to put a shooting range for the sheriff's office.
Commissioners signed off on a partnership with Central Washington Range Conservancy.
It will allow deputies and corrections officers to practice at Sun Valley Shooting Park near Moxee.
Deputies caused a stir last year after proposing to build a shooting range in a Terrace Heights neighborhood.
It's now expected to cost about $100,000 to customize the land although commissioners say that's a rough estimate.
Yakima County will pay the conservancy $5,000 a year.
