MABTON, Wash. -- Volunteers helped expand Mabton's new community park. They added 13,000 square feet of sod to the park. It was an over grown field just a few months ago. They also installed irrigation and picnic slabs as well as a volleyball and tether ball court.
"There is no place really for the families to come out and do something,” said neighbor and volunteer, Laura Vazquez. “Last night my husband brought my son and a whole bunch of his friends and they played volleyball here and some of the kids from here came and played with them."
Donations paid for all the changes at the park. It will be dedicated next month. The next project is adding a skate park.
