SELAH, Wash. -- Selah schools received almost a million dollars to improve student performance this year.
It's Title I money from the federal government that goes to schools with low student test scores. Schools are supposed to use that money to buy resources to raise scores. Selah already hired two new teachers and is looking at other ways to spend the money.
"I think any extra money that we can get in to the schools into education programs is only beneficial for the kids and I think it's great to have more money in there," said Selah parent Casey Collins.
The Selah School District got 500-thousand dollars from Title One last year.
