Moxee, WASH. -- Police say they're on the lookout this holiday for folks trying to mix in legal fireworks with the illegal type.

Folks in Moxee tell KIMA illegal and dangerous fireworks have been ending up in their yard. They say their neighbors mix legal fireworks with those against the law in order to avoid fines.

"I just do not want someones house burning down with all the fires lately. And the mess after wards is awful and the barking dogs," said one Moxee resident who asked not to be identified.

Officers say they are on the lookout for those mixing the good with the bad.

"People out here seem to abide by it but we do have people that buy illegal ones because there so available on the reservation and we do get a mix," said Moxee Police Chief, Mike Kisner.

The chief tells us they can easily track fireworks on sticks or those that are extra loud. He said officers typically confiscate them and can issue fines up to $350.
