YAKIMA, Wash. -- It's the last week of business for state liquor stores. A lot of people are stocking up over concerns prices will rise.
The Summitview Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard locations here in Yakima closed. Managers said sales jumped the last three days as people, restaurants and bars buy cases of alcohol. Employees said customers worry about how high the prices will go.
"Once it goes up it's going to stay there,” said liquor store customer, Wilbur Lomakema. “It's never going to come back down. I think it was better off when the state ran it."
Yakima's state-run liquor store on Fair Avenue will stay open until Wednesday.
