New program for highly capable students in Sunnyside
SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- A new program in the Sunnyside School District next year will cater to its highly capable students.

Administrators says it will let gifted students move through the curriculum faster. Students from kindergarten through second grade will be in special groups within the classroom.Third through eighth graders will be in separate classrooms. Students are interested in the opportunity.

"I'll use that to like when I grow up be like a scientist or a teacher, or something that you need to have a really good brain to do," said Rycker Hazzard, a 5th grade student in Sunnyside.

Parents and teachers can refer students. Students must test in the top 97 percentile to get into the program.
