Neighbors sign off against proposed Sheriff's shooting range
YAKIMA, Wash. -- KIMA continues to follow the proposed outdoor shooting range and training facility the Yakima County Sheriff's Office wants in Terrace Heights.

The window for submitting written comments closed Thursday afternoon.

A neighbor collected dozens of signatures from people who oppose the shooting range.

Many homeowners worry about noise and the impact the shooting range could have on property values.

"It's not fair, this is not a agricultural community. It's listed as agricultural/rural but there are a lot of houses out here," said Gordon Martin, who lives in the area.

Right now, deputies practice their shooting at the Yakima Training Center.

A decision from the county could come in a matter of weeks and some neighbors plan to appeal if it's approved.
