YAKIMA, Wash. -- Nearly 1,000 people showed up to the first ever Pirate Plunder Adventure Race in Yakima.

Racers got down and dirty in the mud. The race was four miles long with more than a dozen obstacles. There was a giant slide made of dirt, tire climb and mud crawl to name a few.

People we talked to say they already want to sign up for next year.

"The water part was freezing,"said racer Hilary Pelley. "I kind of couldn't breathe there for a second. But I had a great time. This was awesome."

Organizers say the event was a huge success. The race was held just east of Kmart off State Route 24.
