More money for Yakima County as construction increases
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Building permit applications are up in Yakima County and they're bringing more money along with them.

Applications are up by about by about $30,000 compared to this time last year.

Yakima County will take in about $125 thousand dollars in application fees.

A new codes project manager was hired this week just to keep up with the work.

There's hope it could lead to more jobs.

"New jobs could mean new opportunities for a lot of different people like teens that are looking for a job because I know there's a lot of us out there looking for them," Michael Gallegos said.

KIMA told you last year about Yakima County's decision to release workers after a drop in permit applications.
