YAKIMA, Wash.-- Local veterans celebrated those who served and remembered those who didn't make it home. Men and women showed up representing the different branch of the military and the combat zone where they served. Speakers shared their experiences and talked about the hardships of coming home.

"We come down here and we try to pay it forward for our brothers and sisters that went before us or didn't make it home," Iraq combat veteran Brian Gerken said. "I'm an Iraq veteran and there's a lot of Vietnam veterans, there's some World War II Veterans here. There's Afghanistan veterans."

The Korean/Vietnam Memorial Monument will soon be expanded with new bricks. New names are still being updated.
