ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Plans will move forward to build an interpretive center in the Yakima River Canyon. The Kittitas Environmental Education Network was running out of time to build it. A federal grant would have covered most but the center was $160,000 short. An anonymous organization donated the money as a loan.

"It was very exciting for us because we didn't want to send the money back to the Feds and we wanted to make sure we could keep that and now we have a bit longer time to raise the $160,000," Jill Scheffer said, the Chairperson of the Kittitas Environmental Education Network.

The interpretive center will be off State Route 821 at the intersection of Canyon and Thrall Roads.
