YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Tri-cities had it a few weeks ago and today, it was Yakima's turn for the annual polar bear plunge. Hundreds gathered to brave the freezing water at Yakima's Sarg Hubbard Park today. Community groups, law enforcement, and military made their own teams to make the plunge. But of course, it was all for a good cause: the special olympics. The costume contest beforehand made it fun to help the cause.

"It's really important for the community and for everyone to sponsor an athlete and just get them out there because not a lot of them have the money and funds available to do that," said Derek Jenson who made the plunge.

Each team got to jump into a jacuzzi after their plunge.
