Vandals strip metal from bridge, leave behind gaping holes
NACHES, Wash. -- Vandalism in the Wenas Wildlife Area forced authorities to close a trail bridge because it's unsafe to cross.

Deputies say someone stole the metal brackets from the Tieton Trail bridge last week.

The bridge now has gaping holes.

People use it to get to spots for hiking, bird watching and rock climbing. A neighbor says the thieves ruined it for everyone.

"Well I hope that somebody can find some traces of the people who did it and re can recoup from there. That's sad," said George Schrindell.

Wildlife authorities say it will take at least a month to reopen the bridge.
