YAKIMA, Wash. --- Another candidate joined the race to be Yakima County's next prosecuting attorney Friday. Troy Clements currently serves as the supervisor for the Prosecutor's Office Gang Unit.

The Republican grew up working on his family's farm in Moxee. He has worked in the District Court Unit, Juvenile Offender Unit and Adult Felony Unit. Clements says his tenure overseeing the Gang Unit qualifies him for the job.

"The skills that you learn, these are the most complex cases, some of the most difficult cases from a law enforcement perspective," said Clements. "So, if you can successfully try those types of cases, you can virtually try any case in the prosecutor's office."

Clements points to his effort to push for long-term sentences for gang criminals as another qualification. He's the second person in the prosecutor's race.
