YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-- Thousands of dollars donated today will go to latino students with plans for college. Pepsi and Fiesta Foods joined forces this summer to raise money for the Hispanic Academic Achievement Program. Pepsi made a donation for every 24 pack sold at Fiesta Foods in Yakima, Sunnyside and Pasco and, wrote a check for almost $7,000 to the scholarship fund.

"We believe in the students," HAAP Board Member Mateo Arteaga said. "I mean, they're our future and without these young people going off to college, who's going to pay our social security is my bottom line to young people. I want them to end up with a good job and a respectful job so they can come back and serve in their communities."

Twenty-five students got scholarships this year through the program. Fiesta Foods plans to add onto the Pepsi donation to total $10,000.
