Driver who cut off cop deemed at fault
YAKIMA, Wash.-- KIMA is still following last week's car accident involving a YPD officer. Officer Lynn Thorn was hurt in the collision at Lincoln and Custer Avenues. YPD says she will be out of work for eight weeks with a broken wrist. The other driver is ok, but was given a ticket for failing to yield at a right turn. YPD can't confirm he didn't stop, but investigators say he was at fault for cutting off the officer. They're still considering a second ticket for negligent driving. This was the first officer-involved accident this year. There were 3 last year.
Well the caddy did pull out from a stop sign in front of the police car.
Yea but Tracey did you expect to really hear the officer was at fault?
Negligent driving.....REALLY! With 3 kids in the car. WTF Y.P.D!!!

Think this is same officer i T-boned maybe 7 years ago or so on christmas eve. it was super slick out and all family had left my moms house. i seen signal way back and it was green. when i got close it was still green and was expecting it to change on me so i slowed to 15mph cause it was so slick out. when i got about 20 feet from cross walk still green and next thing i see is police car stopped in front of me with lights on like as to block me. i hit the breaks at 15mph and i could hear my tires trying to grab. heading right for her door my head lights in her face i was slowing down fast and thought i would just miss her. must of been about 5mph when hit here in driver door with my explorer. not sure why she did not step on it and get out of there. they said they were going on a call but if so why did she stop.. they were at fault and when i went to there insurance the guy made a comment about there laptops.. so i think what happen was she was looking at laptop looked up to see red light and stepped on breaks sliding into intersection and but on red lights for me to see. it was to late when she came to stop i was to close. i felt for her we all make mistakes i was glad she was not hurt. remember that when we need help right away we want them there to help so we need to give them a break. police use to get by with out laptops. i think that laptop screens should only come on when they are stopped and in park or foot on break..
@technogeek they never come help , never . they abuse , bully , and lie. incompetence shouldn't be commended.
No problem I try to stay on top of the news.
Thank you Charlie for posting this. I had been wondering what happened to the officer.
We need to see the release of the patrol car GPS data, including speed. Â It is public information.
everyone knew from the start the other driver was going to at fault.the cop didnt even slow down she was not watching out for her self
the speed limit is 30mph there . she was doing over 45 , look at that damage . cops always look out for each other . they fly down my road over 50 mph no lights or siren , and no consequences either . pieces of crap, all of them. police yourselves , you can't count on y.p.d to do anything but screw you over .
