DOT talks security changes for Redmon Bridge
YAKIMA, Wash. -- KIMA looked into your concerns about the safety of the Redmon Bridge in Selah after a man jumped to his death earlier this month. It wasn't the first time it happened.

People asked if fences could be added to prevent this. We took your concerns straight to the Department of Transportation.

DOT tells us it's going over ways to improve safety at the Redmon Bridge. One idea would add tall fencing along the edges. The Department might also add signs with a crisis response hotline.

"We are working with the mental health agencies in Yakima to determine if there are other types of solutions out there, said Troy Suing, DOT Planning and Program Regional Administrators.

Any decision on spending will be up to state lawmakers. DOT will likely know if the upgrades are approved by Spring.
