YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima politicians are back from the capitol where they lobbied for statewide support. Yakima's mayor, city manager and city council members pitched their case in Olympia. They mostly want money for the Cascade Mill Site but they'd also like support fighting gang violence in Yakima. The city believes both of these go hand in hand.

"By improving the look and feel environment and opportunity there, it should make improvements in the gang front as well so there's just a lot of plusses to that Mill site taking off," said Dave Ettl, a Yakima city council member.

Yakima trying to get a quarter-million dollars to fight gangs. Next year, they'll ask for double that.
