YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Greenway and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are teaming up for a big fishing event this weekend. More than a thousand kids will reel in some trout at Sarg Hubbard Park.

More than 5,000 fish were put into Reflection Pond for Saturday's event. Kids who signed up will get a rod and reel with the chance to catch up to two fish.

"We're actually going to enhance it a little bit by putting out 100 five to ten pound large rainbow trout as well," said Fish and Wildlife Biologist Eric Anderson. "So some of the kids will catch those. And boy when they catch those, there's hoops and shouts and just a lot of fun all around the pond."

There are still a few spots open for kids who want to fish. Click here to fill out an application.
