YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima School District will be on the hunt for a new Superintendent. Elaine Beraza announced her retirement.

She'll finish this upcoming school year. It will be her sixth as superintendent. The Yakima School Board credits Beraza for improving test scores, increasing the use of technology in class and professional development.

The school board will start looking for a new superintendent this fall.

"Wishing her well when she’s finished this year. She has given a lot to this district and we very much appreciate everything she has done," said Martha Rice, Yakima School District Board President.

Beraza will have a chance to train her replacement.
