YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Yakima County has written a check to the SunDome.

The president of the Central Washington State Fair Association says the SunDome has been losing money for more than a decade. It lost almost $200,000 dollars last year.

Yakima County commissioners signed off on giving $140,000 to the association. The money is from taxes collected on hotel stays.

Association president Greg Stewart says the arena really can't afford to have another bad year.

"Well, if they continue, we're going to have to take a hard look at what are we going to do here," he said. "We don't want to go there; we're aggressively trying to avoid that."

While the SunDome sees almost 400,000 people a year, the State Fair covers most of the costs.
