More than a dozen back-to-back crashes close I-82 near Wapato
WAPATO, Wash. -- Collisions in both directions of I-82 shut a portion of the freeway down for hours Friday night as troopers responded to over a dozen crashes involving 22 cars.

Washington State Patrol said the accidents all occurred at the Parker Bridge section of I-82 near mile post 41.

The road froze over and caused 14 collisions on both sides of the freeway, said troopers.

A four-mile stretch of the freeway just north of Wapato was closed as WSP cleared the scene and WSDOT treated the icy roads.

Six people were sent to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
