YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima County settled a lawsuit with a worker who fell four-stories down a Terrace Heights water tower.

The man was severely injured in the accident back in 2010.

Michael Hanson of Oregon was hired to repair the tower when the floor gave way.

The worker sued, saying Yakima County hadn't warned him of the dangers.

A settlement was reached for more than a million dollars.

"He's trying to put his life together. This essentially almost destroyed him. His wife tells a story that she really didn't know whether he was going to live," said Hanson's Yakima attorney Vito De La Cruz.

Yakima County said it will pay $150,000 of that from its deductible. The rest is covered by insurance.
