Schrammie: Trying to get blood from a stone

SEATTLE -- You can't get blood from a stone.

But there are some with rocks in their heads who think they can.

So if the head of the Seattle Teacher's Association can get out of detention, I'd like her to come on down.

Olga Addae's response to a Seattle school district screw up has been anything but helpful.

Yes, the district botched it by sending out a letter addressing teacher contract issues that was ill-timed and poorly worded.

And yes, the union should be upset with how education in this state is being butchered.

But unless Olga and the union plan on printing up a whole bunch of $100 bills to bail the district out of its financial hole, the verbal assault launched at the district is not just disruptive, it's destructive.

Olga's diatribe targeting the school district was divisive, uncalled for and deliberately misleading.

So for blaming the school district for doing what the Legislature forced it to do and for not remembering that while schools are about teachers, they're also about students, take a bow Olga because this "Schrammie" is for you.
