Speechcraft Communication-Skills Workshop Series

Sun City Toastmasters invites the community to a six-week communication-skills workshop series called Speechcraft, designed to help participants gain confidence in a supportive environment. The series begins 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23 at Orchard Park Center, 620 N 34th Ave, Yakima, and continues at the same time and location on Jan. 30, Feb. 6, Feb. 13, Feb. 20, Feb. 27. A cost of $60, covering all six workshops, includes all materials.

During the workshop series, participants will prepare and present short talks and practice impromptu speaking
in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The series is designed to help attendees
gain confidence in all aspects of communication, including written and impromptu speeches, body language, and listening. Materials are provided. Experienced Toastmaster members present the fundamentals of public speaking and serve as advisers throughout the program. By the end of the series, participants are expected be able to communicate with greater confidence at work and at home.

The skills gained through the workshop series will serve participants in all areas of life, including communicating better with employers, co-workers and customers; conducting and participating in meetings, motivating people; interviewing for jobs; selling ideas, products, and services; and solving problems.
