Community Shred

June 1 10:00 AM Fred Meyer 101 Wellsian Way in Richland 206-987-4876 wendy.funicello@seattlechildrens.org Website
Shred-It and Fred Meyer are partnering to help consumers fight identity theft by organizing a Community Shred on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 10 am to 2 pm at Fred Meyer located on Wellsian Way in Richland. Community members are invited to bring unwanted personal documents for shredding by a Shred-It mobile truck. Members of the Dr. L.G. Spaulding Guild will be on hand to collect payment for the following: $5 per grocery bag of documents and $10 per archive box. Identity theft is the fastest growing form of consumer fraud in North America. Community members can protect themselves by regularly destroying confidential documents rather than disposing of them in non-secure places.
100% of the proceeds generated from the community shred will benefit uncompensated care at Seattle Children's Hospital. In 2012, Seattle Children’s provided $113.7 million in uncompensated care to children in the four-state region of Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Last year Children’s saw 1,843 individual patients from Benton and Franklin counties resulting in $2.7 million in uncompensated care.
