Ryan Harris
Ryan Harris joined the KIMA/KEPR Action News staff as Sports Anchor/News Reporter in February 2008. The Los Angeles native grew up in Tacoma, and after high school he spent a few years in the military. After getting out of the U.S. Army unscathed and with honorable discharge in hand, Ryan went on to earn a degree in Broadcast Communication from Pacific Lutheran University.
Ryan came to KIMA/KEPR Action News from Los Angeles where he worked in the production department at KCBS/KCAL Television. Ryan also hosted a sports show in Torrance called The SporstDesk for CitiCABLE 3. There, he covered everything from pee-wee football, to El Camino College sports. Ryan also got the chance to cover the local high schools and their ride to state playoff glory. Ryan’s favorite interview was with Los Angeles Dodger great, Don Newcombe. He was one of the first African-Americans to play in the majors, and the only player to ever win the Cy Young award, and MVP award in the same year.
Ryan plays basketball to keep the cardiovascular system up to par, and he loves the outdoors. Once indoors he loves to get in the kitchen and create new dishes, while watching the game of the day. Ryan claims the Lakers, Dodgers, and Raiders as his sports teams and in college, UCLA basketball and USC football get his support.
Ryan also loves to study ancient African history going back to the great civilizations of the Nile Valley. He plans on making a second trip back to ancient KMT in the future to see the sacred temples, tombs, and pyramids once again.
